14 miles this morning in Provo Canyon. I started at the mouth of the canyon and turned around about 1.5 miles up south fork road. Average pace was 9:07 which I'm happy with based on all the uphill, especially up south fork road. I started feeling it around mile 9 heading back down and was going to slow down. Then a group of people passed me and I didn't think they should have been able to. I picked up the pace and passed that group. I kept up the pace and ran the second half somewhere between 8:20 and 8:30. I didn't need to go that fast, but I've enjoyed testing my endurance. I'm encouraged again, the 4:00 hour marathon goal should be easy to get. (Are marathons ever easy?) |
